Description
The CD4048BE is a CMOS multifunction expandable gate with eight inputs and four control inputs. The three binary control inputs (Ka, Kb, and Kc) allow for the implementation of eight logic functions, including OR, NOR, NAND, AND, OR, AND, NOR. The fourth control input, Kd, facilitates a 3-state output: when Kd is high, the output reflects logic 1 or 0 based on internal states, and when Kd is low, the output becomes an open circuit, useful for connecting to a common bus line. Apart from the eight input lines, an EXPAND input allows for expanding the inputs by cascading multiple CD4048Bs, for instance, two can be connected to create a 16-input gate. When the EXPAND input isn't utilized, it should be connected to VSS.
